The basketball season has ended, and five area teams won state championships at Ole Miss last weekend.
Pine Grove’s girls won their fourth straight Class 1A title (3:09), beating a tough Baldwyn team. In 4A, Ripley’s girls got over the hump (5:24) after coming close in previous seasons. Ingomar’s boys – specifically Zach Shugars – provided the biggest and most SportsCenter-worthy moment with a last-second win against Baldwyn in the 1A final (6:54).
Also, Calhoun City’s girls won 2A to end a long title drought (11:18), and Starkville’s boys won a second straight 6A crown (12:52).
On the baseball diamond, Dalton recaps Tuesday’s game between North Pontotoc and Lafayette (15:13). The Vikings won a back-and-forth affair, 8-6.
On the coaching front, Calhoun City head coach Chad White left for an assistant’s job at Ripley, while Hatley has hired Clint Adair as head coach (18:14).
Also today, the guys give a Shoutout to former Ingomar star Gara Beth Self (19:12), and they present Athletes of the Week (19:52).
