The 2018 high school football season wraps up this weekend with the MHSAA championships in Hattiesburg. Northeast Mississippi has one team competing for a title: West Point.
On this episode, Brad and Dalton look at the six matchups (6:08), including West Point against West Jones in the 5A title game (7:30). The Green Wave are seeking a third-straight championship. They got here by turning in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball last week in a 35-0 win over Olive Branch (1:33).
Two other area teams came up short last week. Turnovers hurt Calhoun City in a loss to Scott Central (3:57), while Smithville couldn’t capitalize on some opportunities against powerhouse Simmons (4:56).
There’s plenty of basketball talk this week, too. Dalton has an update on the Potts Camp boys (11:09), who are off to a strong start behind the play of Mitchell Saulsberry. On the girls side, South Pontotoc rallied to beat Amory on Tuesday (13:45), while Tremont held off a furious West Union comeback (15:22).
Some big girls games are on tap for Friday night (17:00), including Pontotoc at Tupelo and Ingomar at Pine Grove.
The guys wrap things up with a shoutout to Houston’s Aquana Brownlee (19:08) and Athletes of the Week (19:46).
