#307: Soccer playoffs; Anderson leads Wave – 01/25/23

Soccer playoffs have begun, and the basketball regular season is starting to wind down. Brad has an update on Tupelo’s girls soccer team, which fell to Clinton in the Class 6A playoffs on Monday (1:33). As for hoops, Tupelo’s boys rallied past Oxford on Tuesday thanks to the play of Dayveun Anderson (4:00).

In other hardcourt news, Belmont’s girls continue to look strong (7:05), and Pontotoc’s Zane Tipler is out for the season with a knee injury (8:31).

Brad also presents Athletes of the Week (9:33).

#306: Starkville tops Tupelo; Fair leaving Lafayette – 01/18/23

Brad has a little bit of everything on this week’s episode.

For starters, there are a lot of important basketball games being played this week. One of them occurred Tuesday, when No. 1 Starkville beat No. 2 Tupelo in a Division 1-6A boys showdown (1:45). Going back to the weekend, Chris Carter led New Albany to the Union County Tournament title (6:00). Brad also discusses the rash of knee injuries suffered by area girls players (7:04).

Baseball preseason practices have begun, and Brad has an update on Tupelo (9:23), which is trying to fill some gaping holes on its pitching staff. There’s also big football coaching news, as Lafayette’s Michael Fair is headed to Grenada (11:45).

#305: Mooreville girls on a roll – 01/11/23

Brad has plenty of hoops to talk about this week.

Mooreville’s girls are hot (2:30). The Lady Troopers won the Lee County Tournament last weekend, then they upset No. 2 Tishomingo County on Tuesday. There were several other county tourneys last week (3:32), and Brad also has an update on Pontotoc’s boys (4:02).

Looking ahead, Starkville and Tupelo have a big showdown next Tuesday (5:11). Also on the show, an Oxford soccer update (6:11) and Athletes of the Week (7:27).

#304: Duffy, Simmons have big nights – 01/04/23

Brad got to see two of the better players in the area this past week.

On this episode, he recaps Saltillo’s boys winning their division opener on Tuesday behind the play of Demetrius Duffy (1:44), who had 27 points and 13 rebounds. Back on Friday, Booneville took down Biggersville as Kedrick Simmons had a big game (3:36), with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting.

Also today, an update on the postponed Starkville-Tupelo game (NOTE: rescheduled for Jan. 17) as well as what’s coming the rest of the week (5:40). And of course, Athletes of the Week are honored (7:14).
