#283: Top 5 linebackers; Tupelo volleyball – 07/27/22

Brad is back for another episode, which includes football, volleyball and baseball.

Some news came down yesterday when the MHSAA announced that football games will kick off at 7:30 p.m. through the end of September (1:48). Heat concerns were cited.

Brad has an update on Tupelo volleyball (3:12) as it prepares for the upcoming season. The Lady Wave don’t have any superstars but have a lot of good pieces.

The position rankings continue with the area’s top five linebackers (5:39), and Brad has an update on the red-hot Tupelo 49ers (9:34).

#282: Coffman drafted; top defensive backs – 07/20/22

For a summer episode, today’s is fairly packed.

Brad has an update on the Tupelo 49ers as they get ready to play in the American Legion State Tournament (1:54). The 49ers have lost only one game all season. Speaking of baseball, Tishomingo County’s Spence Coffman was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 19th round on Tuesday (3:56).

On the football front, Brad talks about Oxford’s new quarterback, Mack Howard (5:47). The Utah commit transferred from Heritage Academy, where he was named MAIS Class 5A Player of the Year. Also today, Brad ranks the area’s top five defensive backs (8:51).

#281: TCPS hires football coach – 07/13/22

Brad is back with a fairly short episode.

There is some news to report: Tupelo Christian has hired Brad Kimberlin as its head football coach (2:59). He walks into a unique situation, with his predecessor having left following recruiting accusations. The Eagles have already seen two key starters transfer out this summer, so attrition is a concern.

Also today, an update on Kossuth quarterback Jack Johnson (8:16). He excelled last season after transferring from McNairy Central and is looking to be even better this fall.

#280: Isaac Smith recruiting update – 07/06/22

It’s July, so let’s talk some football.

Three area players stopped by the Journal last week for a football magazine cover shoot (2:10). One of those players was Isaac Smith, a safety from Itawamba AHS who is being recruited by several SEC schools (2:57). Smith said he’s in no hurry to make a decision.

Also on this episode, Brad previews the King City Classic (4:59), as the Tupelo 49ers put their perfect record on the line. He also has an update on New Site girls basketball (8:36), and Lafayette has a new boys basketball coach (10:45).
