The weather threw a kink into the schedule, but the MHSAA basketball playoffs are rolling along this week. Some area teams have already punched their tickets to the state tournament in Jackson, while others will try to do so Thursday.
On this episode, Brad and Dalton look back at some recent games, including Okolona’s win over Simmons in the 1A boys quarterfinals (1:31). The Chieftains are looking to repeat as state champs.
Kossuth’s girls are headed to Jackson for the first time since 1993 (4:24). A key member of that team was Angie Malone, who now coaches the Lady Aggies. Belmont’s girls are also Big House-bound after knocking off South Pontotoc (5:57).
Three-time defending 2A girls champ Ingomar saw its era of dominance ended Tuesday by Calhoun City (10:16). Ingomar’s boys, however, moved on thanks to Hunter Bynum’s game-winning layup in the waning seconds.
Looking ahead, there are 11 games involving area teams on Thursday (13:01). The guys also look at the matchups that are already set as well as potential matchups in Jackson next week (14:53).
Finally, a Shoutout to baseball and softball teams, who finally have some good weather (16:40), and Athletes of the Week (18:34).
