#87: Warriors top IAHS, face Shannon next – 10/25/17

Pontotoc took care of business last week with a big Division 2-4A win over Itawamba AHS.

On this episode, Brad and Dalton look back at the Warriors’ victory (1:55). They also recap Houston’s offensive explosion against Aberdeen (4:22) and Okolona moving a step closer to winning the Division 1-1A title (6:07).

More big games are on tap this weekend, including Shannon at Pontotoc (8:23), where the visiting Red Raiders pit a prolific offense against one of the area’s best defenses. Tupelo, meanwhile, will try to wrap up the 1-6A title when it visits a tough Horn Lake squad (10:08), and Calhoun City hosts Eupora in a key 2-2A battle (11:58).

The guys also have updates on softball and volleyball (13:19), along with Athletes of the Week (15:45).

#86: Big win for Tupelo; big showdown in Fulton – 10/18/17

A huge Division 2-4A showdown is on tap this week when Pontotoc meets Itawamba AHS in a game that should decide the division champ.

On this episode, Brad and Dalton preview that game (10:06), which will be played at IAHS in Fulton. There are also a couple of important games in 1-1A this week: Biggersville at Okolona (13:24) and TCPS at Smithville (14:07).

Looking back at Week 9, Dalton recaps Tupelo’s comeback win at South Panola (2:03). The Golden Wave were sparked by a fake field goal and five second-half turnovers. Also last week, Ripley picked up a road win against Corinth behind the play of QB Trey Blanchard (5:32), and West Point destroyed previously unbeaten Olive Branch (6:55).

The guys also have a quick update on the slow-pitch softball playoffs (15:28), where Hamilton and Nettleton are playing for state titles. And they present Athletes of the Week (16:19).

#85: Tupelo, West Point face huge tests – 10/11/17

There is a pair of huge games on tap for Friday night, with division title hopes on the line.

Today, Brad and Dalton preview West Point’s home matchup with Olive Branch (7:46). Both teams are undefeated, and West Point is looking to keep rolling in its defense of last year’s Class 5A state championship.

Tupelo, meanwhile, visits old foe South Panola (11:03). Ricky Woods is back in Batesville and has the Tigers at 6-2, while the Golden Wave look to remain unbeaten.

Another game to watch this week will be Corinth hosting Ripley (13:42). Corinth is 2-0 in Division 1-4A, as second-year coach Todd Lowery’s Wing-T offense is starting to click.

The guys also look back at some of last week’s key results, including Tupelo over Southaven (1:29), Itawamba AHS over Shannon (3:18) and Nettleton’s upset of South Pontotoc (4:08).

There’s a quick check on the slow-pitch softball playoffs (16:09), and of course Athletes of the Week (18:19).

#84: Division play heats up; all-star rosters released – 10/04/17

Division races are beginning to take shape as we enter Week 8 of the football season.

On this episode, Brad and Dalton review some of last week’s games, including another dominant defensive effort by Tupelo (1:42). South Pontotoc remained undefeated by handling Hatley (4:01), and Okolona took over first place in Division 1-1A by beating Smithville (5:24).

Looking ahead, a big game in 1-3A is set for Thursday when North Pontotoc visits Kossuth (7:13). It’s one of several Thursday games this week. As for Friday, the night’s biggest matchup might be Shannon at Itawamba AHS (9:00) in a 2-4A showdown. And in 2-2A, Calhoun City faces East Webster (10:06).

Also today, Brad discusses his story on Myrtle’s upstart football program (11:15), and rosters have been announced for the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game as well as the Bernard Blackwell North-South All-Star Classic (12:20).

And of course, we have Athletes of the Week (16:06).
