#150: Troopers, Vikings earn division wins – 03/27/19

Baseball and softball teams are in the midst of division play. On this episode, Brad and Dalton look at some key results from the past week.

Mooreville earned an upset win at No. 3 Pontotoc on Tuesday (1:31), with Will Armistead tossing a complete-game three-hitter. On Friday, North Pontotoc topped Kossuth as Sheffield Anthony collected all four of the Vikings’ hits (4:47).

On the softball diamond, Mooreville lost a tough division contest to Caledonia on Tuesday (7:00). Also, Brad has an update on Tupelo slugger Ivy Watts (9:04), who has seen her role simplified this season.

There’s some football news to discuss, as Vardaman has hired a new head coach (12:11). The guys also do the weekly Shoutout (13:17) as well as Athletes of the Week (13:57).

#149: Hood, Kilgore rolling on diamond – 03/20/19

Brad and Dalton are back and fully immersed in the spring sports season. But first, they need to put a bow on the basketball state tournament.

Three area teams brought home gold balls (1:21), including Kossuth’s girls. The Lady Aggies staged a furious rally in the fourth quarter to stun Belmont and claim the program’s first state championship.

On the baseball diamond, Tupelo earned a big division win against South Panola on Tuesday thanks to Easton Hood’s walk-off hit (5:57). The sophomore has been tearing it up at the plate since being inserted into the starting lineup. South Pontotoc also picked up an important division win with a late rally against Nettleton (8:55).

Looking ahead, a couple of Friday matchups that stick out are Kossuth at North Pontotoc and New Site at Ingomar (10:43).

Houston’s softball team, the reigning Class 3A state champ, is cruising along behind pitcher Paige Kilgore (11:39). The sophomore hurled a perfect game last week, striking out all 15 batters she faced.

Also on the show, a Shoutout for Houston’s Kevin Diaz (14:03), as well as Athletes of the Week (16:31).
