#279: All-Area teams announced – 06/29/22

Brad is back from his very relaxing vacation.

On this episode, he looks at the Daily Journal’s All-Area baseball team (1:49), which was released Sunday. Amory’s Bo Rock was named Player of the Year, while East Union’s Jamie Russell and Chris Basil were co-Coaches of the Year.

The All-Area softball team was also released (4:55). Booneville’s Hallie Burns repeated as Player of the Year, and her coach Jessica Taylor was Coach of the Year.

Also on the show, a couple of coaching moves (8:27) and a big SEC commitment (9:21).

#278: 49ers coach talks about team’s hot start – 06/15/22

It’s not just Brad in the studio this week!

Tupelo 49ers coach McKinley Holland stopped by to talk about his American Legion team’s hot start (6:41). The 49ers have been fueled by Jackson McCoy, a Booneville product who is on a tear at the plate.

Also today, Brad has basketball updates on Pine Grove’s boys (2:31) and Ingomar’s boys (4:02). Pine Grove is looking to defend its Class 2A state title despite losing Carson Rowland to graduation, while Ingomar is fielding a young but very promising team. And in hoops news, Brad Gray has resigned as Lafayette boys coach (18:18).

#277: Summer hoops and some coaching news – 06/08/22

It’s summertime, which means it’s summer league time.

On this episode, Brad has some basketball updates, including one on Blue Mountain’s girls (2:06). The Lady Cougars have seen a key player transfer but still return a solid group. Ripley’s girls return an elite player in Alorian Story (4:24), who is coming off a big sophomore season but is looking to grow some more.

On the boys side, Brad talks about Bruce’s Karon Hooper (5:58), who had an outstanding performance in last weekend’s NEMBCA All-Star Games. Also on the show: The Tupelo 49ers are very loaded (8:05), and New Albany has a new softball coach (9:25).

#276: Championships on the diamond – 06/01/22

The 2021-22 high school sports season has come to a close, with softball and baseball championships recently decided.

On this episode, Brad recaps the baseball championships, as East Union and Amory both brought home titles (1:46). Biggersville and Pontotoc also reached Pearl but came up short (3:49).

In softball, East Webster and Booneville were both dominant en route to winning state (4:45).
