#166: TCPS, Corinth open with big wins – 08/28/19

The 2019 football season is underway, and on this episode, Brad and Dalton recap some big games from last week, including Tupelo’s close loss to South Panola (2:05). Corinth went on the road and shut out Shannon (5:52), while Khi Holiday put on a show to lead TCPS past Tishomingo County (9:02).

Looking ahead to some of this week’s games, a big 6A matchup is set when Oxford visits Starkville (14:48). West Point, the reigning 5A champ, travels to 4A champ Louisville after knocking off 6A champ Horn Lake (17:38), and Baldwyn visits Booneville in the annual Skunk Bowl (19:34).

Also, the guys have an update on Tupelo volleyball (21:42), and they present Athletes of the Week (22:42).

#165: Football season is here! – 08/21/19

High school football season has arrived, which means Brad and Dalton are pumped.

On this week’s episode, they recap a couple of jamborees from last weekend: Tupelo at Amory (2:31) and Kossuth at Saltillo (4:41). And then they dive into Week 1 of the regular season by previewing several games.

Tupelo is hosting South Panola (6:34), and it will be the first start for new Wave quarterback Jake Weir. On the other side of the ball, Tupelo must try and slow down running back Janari Dean.

Corinth brings its Wing-T offense to Shannon (9:12), which is breaking in a new QB as well. A fast start will be crucial for the Red Raiders.

Before those Friday games, though, Tishomingo County and TCPS kick things off Thursday night (11:38). Unfortunately, both teams will be without key players because of injuries.

The guys also have updates on Lafayette QB Randy Anderson and East Union’s spread offense (14:26).

There is some volleyball to discuss. Brad saw Oxford defeat New Albany on Tuesday (16:34), while Dalton witnessed Pontotoc’s win over Ripley (17:59).

Wrapping up the show are the Shoutout (19:26) and the return of Athletes of the Week (20:12).

#164: Bearcats optimistic; jamborees on tap – 08/14/19

Hard to believe, but some actual football will be played this weekend.

On this episode, Brad and Dalton preview some of the jamboree games scheduled for Friday and Saturday (8:46), including Tupelo at Amory and Kossuth at Saltillo.

They also check in on Baldwyn (1:56), which is looking to rebound from last season’s 3-8 record. The Bearcats have been moved down to Class 1A and have a chance to do big things with the experience they have returning, including QB Maddux Richey.

Tupelo Christian Prep also has high expectations (5:30), which are bolstered by the return of tailback Josh Berry. He tore his ACL late last season but appears to be in good form this preseason.

#163: Football camp begins; volleyball growing – 08/07/19

It’s football time! Well, almost.

On this episode, Brad and Dalton are pumped about the start of preseason football camp (2:02). Both of them went out to practices on Monday. Dalton got a look at Tupelo’s new starting quarterback, Jake Weir (3:35), while Brad caught up with Smithville skill players Octavion Miller and Jabril Smith (7:06).

The guys also previewed the annual Football Journal magazine (10:48), which will have previews on all 50 area teams, along with preseason rankings, players to watch, and more.

Volleyball season cranks up this weekend, and several area schools have added teams this year (12:52). Also, today’s Shoutout goes to new Tupelo golf coach Seth Swinney (15:44).
