The football season, sadly, comes to an end this weekend in Hattiesburg. Six trophies will be handed out, and three area teams are in the mix to win them.
On this episode, Brad and Dalton preview the championships. First up is Oxford, which faces Oak Grove on Friday night for the 6A title (9:00). The Chargers are seeking their first state championship.
On Saturday, Corinth meets Poplarville in 4A (13:12). It will be a game featuring two big-time rushing attacks.
The final game of the weekend features West Point against Picayune (11:05). The Green Wave are going for their fourth straight 5A title, but Picayune is undefeated and boasts a 3,300-yard rusher in Cameron Thomas.
The guys also take a look back at last week’s North finals. Oxford beat Starkville (1:43), West Point shut down Neshoba Central (4:53), and Corinth gained revenge on Greenwood (6:18).
Some big football coaching news dropped this week, as former Calhoun City head man Perry Liles was hired to lead Ripley’s program (16:01).
On the hardwood, Tupelo’s boys held off Booneville on Tuesday night (17:25), while South Pontotoc’s girls beat rival North Pontotoc (20:30). And coming up this weekend is the Doc Vandiver Classic (22:05), hosted by Baldwyn.
