#154: Tigers, Lady Toppers advance in playoffs

Rain has jumbled the baseball and softball playoff schedules, but Brad and Dalton do their best to sort things out on this week’s episode.

Ripley’s baseball squad finished off a Class 4A series win over Mooreville with a Game 3 victory on Tuesday (2:02). The Tigers were clutch, scoring most of their runs with two outs. In 6A, Tupelo was knocked out in the first round by Warren Central (4:43). Looking ahead, the guys preview some key playoff series (7:16), including Pine Grove-Smithville and Hatley-North Pontotoc.

On the softball side, reigning 3A state champ Houston kept rolling along by sweeping Booneville (10:22). Ace Paige Kilgore only struck out one batter in the series – wayyy below her average – but the Lady Toppers played excellent defense behind her in Tuesday’s Game 2. In 4A, Pontotoc beat New Hope twice on the road Monday to advance (13:07), and then it turned around Tuesday and took Game 1 from Tishomingo County.
