As the football regular season winds down, some big games are on tap this weekend – games with playoff implications.
On this episode, Brad and Dalton preview the Horn Lake-Tupelo matchup in Division 1-6A (7:50). Horn Lake boasts a stellar defense and can clinch the division crown with a win. Tupelo must win its next two games to move into first.
In 1-5A, Olive Branch and Lafayette are tied for second place, but that will change when they meet Friday (10:40). The host Commodores continue to produce one of the state’s best rushing attacks.
The game of the week is in 2-4A, where Pontotoc visits Shannon (12:04). Both teams are unbeaten in division, so the winner here earns a No. 1 playoff seed.
The guys also look back at some key results from Week 10. Ponotoc erased a three-touchdown deficit to topple Itawamba AHS (1:46), with Justin Carter and Tres Vaughn hooking up for four TDs. Biggersville kept its Cinderella season going with a win against Okolona (3:36), and Houston clinched its first division title in 20 years by beating Aberdeen (5:31).
There’s more than just football to talk about on this week’s packed episode. The MHSAA released reclassification info for 2019-2021, and seven area teams will be moving up or down (17:51). In basketball news, Lafayette’s girls suffered a big loss when senior Xhiir Burgess suffered a season-ending ACL injury while playing volleyball (20:59).
Also today, Brad gives some shoutouts to East Union football, East Union softball and South Pontotoc softball (22:23). And he presents Athletes of the Week (23:20).
