On this week’s episode, Brad and Dalton discuss … middle school football. It’s something that’s often overlooked, but Brad had two stories earlier this week looking at the importance of middle school football programs (13:10).
Teams like Tupelo, Oxford and West Point all owe their varsity success to foundations laid at the middle school level. And all three of those programs have head coaches who have fully invested themselves in seventh- and eighth-graders. Sam McRae, for instance, has been head coach at Tupelo Middle School since 2008 and has found his calling coaching that age group.
Also on today’s show, the guys have some updates from summer basketball action. Tupelo’s boys lost a lot of seniors but still return good young talent (3:38), including point guard Keondre Hampton. Ingomar’s boys lost their top two scorers, but the Falcons should be strong in the post (6:50). And Ripley’s girls will again be led by double-double machine Siarra Jackson (10:50).
There’s a little American Legion baseball to discuss as well, as the annual 49ers Invitational is set for this week (21:42).
