It’s been a busy week for coaching hires in Northeast Mississippi, and Brad and Dalton have the latest on the vacancies that have been filled.
Michael Cathey has been hired to lead Ashland’s basketball teams (2:04). He takes over for Rolley Tipler, who led the boys to two Class 1A state championships. Cathey took Coffeeville to the 1A state quarterfinals this year.
Kossuth made two basketball hires: Angie Malone for the girls, Robert Burdette for the boys (4:16). Malone was the middle school coach at Kossuth the past 10 years, while Burdette was head coach at New Albany for three years prior to taking this job. Burdette coached 27 years in Alabama, winning four state titles.
On the baseball diamond, Andy McGregor has been tapped to lead New Site (6:51). It’s his first head coaching job. And at Starkville, Nettleton native and former Mississippi State player Luke Adkins is taking over (8:02).
The guys also have plenty of football to talk about, including New Site having to fold its struggling program (11:05). Brad has managed to procure schedules for all 51 area teams, so he and Dalton peek ahead to some intriguing Week 1 matchups (13:35). And finally, the guys discuss Starkville running back Rodriques Clark’s verbal commitment to Memphis (20:32).
