Round 1 of the MHSAA state basketball tournament is in the books, with several area teams advancing. On this episode, Brad, Gene and Blake break down some of the key results.

On the girls side, reigning 3A champ Booneville bounced back from its division tournament loss to beat Ruleville Central (3:16). Pontotoc’s girls cruised behind the play of Jatyjia Jones (5:04), while Gara Beth Self led Ingomar while playing with a broken nose (6:25). Belmont’s girls, usually a factor in 3A, did not make it out of the first round (8:09).

As for the boys, Shannon rode the play of Rance Champ to victory (9:01), while Ingomar survived a tough test from Leflore County (11:03). Other notable winners from Tuesday include Calhoun City, Okolona and New Site (12:28).

The second round will be held Friday and Saturday, and the guys take a peek at some of the more interesting matchups (14:05). Also, Gene and Blake award Athletes of the Week (19:13).
