The 2018 football season wrapped up last weekend with the MHSAA state championships. On this episode, Dalton recaps West Point’s third-straight state title and looks ahead to the Green Wave’s 2019 prospects (1:31). This was the first year the championships were held in Hattiesburg, and Dalton said it’s a better fit for the event than Oxford or Starkville (7:39).
There has been a lot of good action on the basketball court lately. On the boys side, Jumpertown edged Mantachie on Tuesday thanks to a couple of freshmen (10:42), while Saltillo held off Columbus with some good defense (13:38). Also, Brad enjoyed sitting near the Saltillo student section.
On Saturday, Starkville beat Okolona (17:32), which is not the same team it was when winning last season’s 1A title, but is still tough to handle.
And in girls action, Ingomar won an epic three-overtime thriller against Pine Grove on Friday in a battle of defending state champs (18:57). Brad was very sad he had to miss it.
Also on the show today: A shoutout to Pontotoc girls hoops (20:44), discussion of the All-Area team (21:55), and Athletes of the Week (24:38).
