The Daily Journal’s annual All-Area baseball and softball teams were revealed Sunday. On this episode, Brad and Dalton look at the baseball squad (1:30), including Player of the Year Joel Wilkinson. And they discuss the tough-to-pick softball team (6:24), headlined by Player of the Year Aquana Brownlee.
There’s football to be discussed as well. Tupelo coach Trent Hammond recently talked about his wealth of talent at the offensive skill positions (10:35), and Dalton has an update on a potentially prolific Itawamba AHS offense (13:04).
The coaching carousel continues to turn. Cody Stubblefield has been hired as New Albany’s football coach (14:55), and the school has a new athletics director, too. Also, former Kossuth basketball coach Chris Byrd has landed at Senatobia, and Kossuth softball coach Steve Lyles has retired after 36 years (16:18).
On a related note, Brad continues to struggle with the correct pronunciation of Kossuth.
