Wet weather has compressed the high school sports schedule this week, but teams are finding ways to get in some big games.
Two such games were played Tuesday on the softball diamond. On this episode, Dalton and Brad recap No. 1 South Pontotoc’s win over No. 2 Houston (3:13). Pitcher Allyson Harrison kept Houston’s bats in check as the Lady Cougars remained undefeated.
No. 3 Booneville went on the road and beat No. 4 Mantachie (6:21), with pitcher Jayla Tolar escaping trouble throughout the game. The win keeps the Lady Devils in control in the Division 1-3A race.
Looking ahead, Tupelo’s softball team has big Division 2-6A games Wednesday against South Panola and Thursday against Oxford (8:43).
As for baseball, TCPS has been playing well of late (10:08), as evidenced by wins against Smithville and Pontotoc over the weekend. Smithville will look to bounce back when it meets Division 4-1A foe West Union on Thursday and again on Friday (12:48). Dalton also previews Wednesday’s South Panola-Tupelo matchup (11:34).
The guys have two Shoutouts this week (14:36), and they present Athletes of the Week (15:57).
