State champions are being crowned left and right as the spring sports seasons wind down. Today, Brad Locke looks at how area teams fared in the tennis championships (1:18) as well as the track and field championships (2:27). Several area baseball teams are playing in the state semifinals this week (3:00), while three area softball squads are prepping for state championship series (6:09). Also, Itawamba AHS has a new basketball coach (7:23), and Brad presents the Athletes of the Week (8:35).
Gene Phelps has compiled the Daily Journal’s annual All-Area basketball teams, and while we won’t give anything away, he and Brad discuss some of the leading candidates to make the squad and what goes into the selection process (2:14). Also on this episode, Nettleton has a new head football coach in former Shannon standout Ken Topps (7:58), and the guys also touch on All-Area soccer (1:19). And Gene presents the Athletes of the Week (14:53).
