The MHSAA state basketball tournament moves to Jackson this week, and 25 Daily Journal-area teams will be vying for a gold ball. Gene Phelps and Brad Locke will take a look at who’s got the best shot of bringing home a title (6:34), who has the toughest quarterfinal matchups (9:44), and some of the most intriguing storylines (11:28). Lest we forget, baseball season has begun, and the guys take a quick look at the Oxford and Tupelo teams (14:07). Also, Gene presents the Athletes of the Week (16:19).
It’s all basketball on this week’s episode, as the state tournament tipped off earlier this week. Brad Locke and Gene Phelps take a look at both the boys (1:46) and the girls (12:14), with a closer look how certain Northeast Mississippi teams fared in the first round. On the boys side, the guys discuss Tupelo (1:55), Shannon (3:09), Ripley (4:40) and Ingomar (6:39). As for the girls, they look at Ingomar (12:20), Tupelo (13:34), Pontotoc (14:15) and Lafayette (15:11). And of course, we have the Athletes of the Week (18:08).
