The 2016 MHSAA state basketball champions have been crowned, and four teams from Northeast Mississippi took home the gold ball last week. Gene Phelps and Brad Locke discuss those championship squads – Corinth’s boys (2:30), Booneville’s girls (4:53), Ingomar’s girls (7:14), and Ashland’s boys (10:39). Also today, they take a quick look at Division 1-3A baseball (12:13), and Gene has the Athletes of the Week (14:44).
Gene Phelps is in Jackson covering the MHSAA basketball state tournament. A handful of Northeast Mississippi teams remain in contention for a gold ball, and so today’s show is all about hoops. Gene and Brad Locke talk about Booneville’s girls winning Wednesday (1:36), tonight’s 6A semifinal tilt between the Tupelo and Starkville boys (3:36), and the championship rounds that begin Thursday (6:58).
