Ripley’s baseball program has become a force in Class 4A. On today’s show, Kedrick Storey of the Southern Sentinel joins Brad Locke to talk about the Tigers (1:50), who wrapped up the Division 2-4A title on Tuesday. Also, the guys take a look at Houston football (9:30), Mooreville softball (9:53), the Daily Journal Relays (10:40), and Athletes of the Week (11:06).
Brad Locke is flying solo this week, as Gene Phelps is out on assignment, so it’s an abbreviated episode. Still worth a listen, though, as Brad looks at a couple of area baseball teams that have started well in division play – Ripley (3:41) and Tupelo (4:14). Other topics today include Tyson Carter (1:34) and Brieton Sykes (2:35), as well as the Athletes of the Week (5:16).
It’s all basketball on this week’s episode, as the state tournament tipped off earlier this week. Brad Locke and Gene Phelps take a look at both the boys (1:46) and the girls (12:14), with a closer look how certain Northeast Mississippi teams fared in the first round. On the boys side, the guys discuss Tupelo (1:55), Shannon (3:09), Ripley (4:40) and Ingomar (6:39). As for the girls, they look at Ingomar (12:20), Tupelo (13:34), Pontotoc (14:15) and Lafayette (15:11). And of course, we have the Athletes of the Week (18:08).
Brad Locke is joined by guest co-host Kedrick Storey of the Southern Sentinel. In this week’s episode, the guys take a look back at some recent basketball results, including Tupelo’s big win over Columbus (2:12) and Baldwyn’s blowout of Ingomar (5:41). Also, Kedrick gives an update on the strong seasons being had by Ripley’s basketball squads (6:44), the soccer playoffs have begun (11:48), and Brad presents the Athletes of the Week (14:23).
