Brad is back after a week in Pearl, where he covered the baseball state championships.
East Union won the 2A title for a second straight year (1:56), blowing past Pisgah in a two-game sweep. In 3A, Amory also went back-to-back (3:25), capping a remarkable run after a tornado destroyed the Panthers’ facilities in March. West Union and Saltillo were also in Pearl and fell short in their title series (5:36).
With the 2022-23 sports year in the books, it’s time for some summer basketball. Brad has an update on Pontotoc’s girls (6:33), who are getting some help in their quest to return to the 4A title game. Tupelo’s girls are looking to reach the 6A final again, and that effort will get a boost once injured starters Lamarah Cleaves and Jade Rucker return from ACL injuries (9:44).
We’ve got some big coaching news, with Adam Kirk stepping down as Corinth boys coach (11:11). Among the other moves this past week (12:34): Brent Kuhl will lead Mantachie girls basketball, while Mark Monaghan was hired for Starkville baseball.
