Football season is entering its home stretch, with teams vying for division titles and playoff berths this week.
On this episode, Brad and Dalton preview some of the big games, including East Union at Baldwyn (11:25). The winner will claim the Division 1-2A title. There are some other Thursday games as well due to Friday’s weather forecast, including Tupelo at DeSoto Central. The Golden Wave are looking to bounce back from a loss to South Panola last week.
There are two big showdowns in 1-1A (13:32): Okolona at Biggersville and Smithville at TCPS. Biggersville and Smithville are both undefeated in division but won’t have an easy time of it this week. Also, the guys preview a 2-4A matchup between Itawamba AHS and Pontotoc (16:57).
In looking back at Week 9, Dalton reviews Tupelo’s loss (1:18), in which it allowed a lot of rushing yards. He also discusses the possible return of quarterback Stephon McGlaun. Booneville won a thriller against North Pontotoc to maintain control in 1-3A (5:08), as Dallas Gamble and Camron Young turned in big games.
And Aberdeen edge Hatley 46-45 thanks to the play of QB Fred Fields (7:15), who accounted for six touchdowns, including the game winner in the final minute.
Also this week: South Pontotoc and Nettleton got a little too scrappy a couple of weeks ago (9:39), Pine Grove’s girls look to three-peat in 1A girls hoops (18:19), and we have Athletes of the Week (21:41).
